Sesi da Bahia promotes 1st Inclusive Education Seminar

Opportunity for specialists, educators and researchers to share experiences and successful practices of educational inclusion in topics such as assistive technology and giftedness. This is the main objective of the 1st Seminar on Inclusive Education of the Social Service for Industry (Sesi), which takes place at the Rector Miguel Calmon unit, in Salvador (BA), from the 24th to the 26th of August.

With the central theme “Education and inclusion: a place of advances and possibilities, the event will feature lectures, conversation circles and artistic attractions, the seminar will promote the sharing of experiences and successful practices of educational inclusion among specialists, educators and researchers. There will also be space for workshops on various topics, such as assistive technology, specialized professional care, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), giftedness, but with limited spaces

According to the manager of the SESI Education Training Center, Kátia Marangon, “to build a more just and egalitarian society, which recognizes human difference, we need to start with the education. Promoting a diverse, inclusive and welcoming school environment is the first step; and, to help teachers, coordinators, psychopedagogues and directors in this mission, we will hold a seminar of technical discussions and a lot of exchange of experiences”.

In addition to the presence of educators from all levels of education, parents, students and researchers in the area, the program will feature specialists experts in the field of inclusive education, such as the member of the Advisory Board of the Portuguese Society of Educational Sciences, David Rodrigues; PhD in Education from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and coordinator of the Teaching Studies and Research Laboratory and Difference (Leped), Maria Teresa Eglér Mantoan, and the postdoctoral fellow in Special Education and Expressive Therapies at the University of Lisbon. Luzia Lima-Rodrigues. The executive superintendent of Education and Culture at SESI-BA, Clessia Lobo de Morais Machado, and the specialist in inclusive education, Kátia Marangon, should also attend the seminar.

In addition to the selected participation, the event will offer cultural attractions, such as the group Students of the Youth Orchestra of SESI and APAE in Salvador, which will provide music, capoeira shows, caricature making and presentations of dance.
