New High School

The New High School was passed into law in 2017, but began to be implemented in 2022.

Among the changes promoted with the New High School are:

  • Increased workload;

  • New curriculum grid;

  • Teaching aimed at professional training;

  • Creation of training itineraries for students to deepen in areas of knowledge that are more familiar.

This year, the Ministry of Education (MEC) decided to suspend the implementation of the New Secondary School. Camilo Santana, Minister of Education, stated that there was no broad dialogue with public managers on the reformulation of the Brazilian secondary education policy.

In view of this, the folder opened a public consultation to hear the school community and society as a whole regarding secondary education.

A public consultation was held in June and July of this year. More than 100,000 people participated in this process through the Participa+ Brasil platform.
