King Charles III: learn more about the new King of the United Kingdom

With the death of Queen Elizabeth II On the afternoon of last Thursday (8), his eldest son Charles III became King of UK.

The coronation of the new king does not yet have a set date and should take place after the end of the period of mourning in the country.

The first pronouncement as king was made this Friday (9). On that occasion, he pledged to serve the nation of the United Kingdom with "loyalty, respect and love".

Titles

When Elizabeth IIascended the throne of the United Kingdom in 1953, Charles was 3 years old.

With the passing of King George VI, Charles became Prince of Wales at the age of 9. Among other titles inherited from his father are the Duke of Edinburgh and Duke of Cornwall.

Training

The first of Elizabeth II's heirs to go to school and university, Charles studied at schools in London and northern Scotland.

Graduated in 1970 from Trinity College, Cambridge.

After completing his studies, Charles entered the military career. He held high positions in the armed forces.

Marriage

Charles was married to Princess Diana, known for her charisma. The wedding took place in July 1981. The ceremony was televised to over 700,000 people and around 500,000 were in attendance at the wedding.

Their children are Prince William, who was born in 1982, and Prince Harry, born in 1984.

In 2017, Charles was involved in a leak of so-called "paradise papers", which revealed influential names in dubious investments. The case allegedly involved transactions in Bermuda.

Business

Located in the former residence of Queen Elizabeth, grandmother of Charles III, The Granary Lodge was the new king's first business.

The inauguration took place in 2019. The space is in the Castle of Mey, in the town of Caithness, Scotland.

Daily rates cost an average of 160 pounds, which is equivalent to R$955. There is the possibility to visit the inn. The ticket costs 13 pounds or approximately R$88.

Another business is the perfume brand Highgroove Bouquet. The launch of the brand took place this year and is the result of a partnership with the famous fragrance house, Penhaligon's.
