the opening of 22nd World Cup takes place today, November 20, at the event's headquarters, at Wtie (or Qatar), which was chosen for this edition of the tournament. This even presents a completely different competition from previous editions.
The ceremony is scheduled for 12h, Brasilia time, at the Al Bayt stadium. The event will take place, as is tradition, about an hour before the first match of the tournament, between Qatar and Ecuador.
At first, the opening would be held on November 21, but the organization of the tournament changed to this Sunday, the same date as the game between the two teams.

attractions
There are great expectations regarding the opening attractions of the 2022 World Cup, since so far, several speculated names were denied by the press, including the artists: Dua Lipa, Shakira and Rod Stewart.
In addition to them, other speculated names were those of the Black Eyed Peas group and singers Robbie Williams and Nora Fatehi.
Among the confirmed names are the South Korean singer Jung Kook, from kpop group BTS, and rapper Lil Baby, responsible for one of the songs on the World Cup soundtrack.

The Al Bayt Stadium
The Al Bayt stadium will be the stage for the opening of the World Cup and other games in the competition. In total, it will host eight matches, six in the group stage, one round of 16 match and one semifinal match.
Al Bayt is located 40 kilometers from Doha, in the city of Al Khor.

Qatar World Cup Facts
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar runs until December 18, 2022. Generally, the soccer world cup is played in June and July, but, due to the high temperatures of the summer in Qatar, which exceed 40ºC, there has been this change. As a result, the holding of the 2022 World Cup remained within the fall, when the climate It usually stays between 25ºC and 30ºC.
Another particularity of this Cup is the territorial dimension of the host country. Qatar occupies an area of only 11,600 km², much smaller than the countries that hosted the event in previous editions: Russia (17.1 million km²) and Brazil (8.5 million km²). Due to this characteristic, the selections do not have the need to travel by plane from one city to another and all the journeys to the games are made by bus, in a few minutes.
