The test is not mandatory and is completely free. It serves to certify young people and adults who have not completed elementary school or high school at the age oriented by the guidelines of the Ministry of Education (MEC).

The certification for elementary school is made for students over 15 years old, while the high school certification is for people over 18 years old.
How is Encceja 2023 done?
Encceja 2023, both for primary and secondary education certificates, is made up of four objective tests, each with 30 multiple-choice questions. In addition, students must write a dissertation-argumentative essay – just as it is in the National High School Education (Enem).
Students must achieve a minimum of 100 points on each of the four tests, which are scored from 60 to 180. As for writing, they must have a grade equal to or greater than 5 in text correction.
The certificate is equivalent to the diploma of completion of both stages of education.
Subjects in the test for completion of elementary school
- Natural Sciences;
- Mathematics;
- Portuguese language, foreign language, arts, physical education and writing;
- History and geography.
Subjects in the test for completion of high school
- Natural sciences and their technologies;
- Mathematics and its technologies;
- Languages, codes and their technologies and writing;
- Human sciences and their technologies.

- Registrations: May 22nd to June 2nd
- Evidences: August 27
- Disclosure of the gauge: September 11th
- Results: December 22nd
