After water, coffee is the most consumed beverage among Brazilians.

Research commissioned by Jacobs Douwe Egberts, the company that owns the coffee brands Pilão and L’OR, in partnership with Aocubo Research, heard about 3,400 people in Brazil and suggests that the Brazilian consumes, on average, 3 to 4 cups of coffee per day.

The Brazilian habit makes coffee the second most consumed beverage in the country, second only to water. The survey also reveals that 98% of households consume coffee.

Cultural importance of coffee

According to the survey, most consumers, 79%, claim to drink roasted and ground coffee more frequently. Other consumers prefer cappuccinos, espresso and soluble.

There are also differences in the consumption of the drink between age groups, between 18 and 35 years old consumption is more moderate, as from 40 years old the habit becomes more intense.

The survey, which aims to analyze and understand the profile of the Brazilian consumer, concluded that the coffee has a very important social role for social interactions, such as visits, meetings and meetings of work. Brazilians' conversations often revolve around cups of coffee.
