Enem 2019 has the lowest number of subscribers since 2012

 According to a balance sheet released by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), in all, 6,384,957 enrolled in Enem 2019, but 20.2%, more than 1 million people, did not pay the registration fee of BRL 85 and did not have their participation confirmed, which at the end of the survey totaled 5,095,308 subscribers.

The number of exam registrations is down from 2018 when the exam had 5.5 million confirmed participants and is the lowest number since 2012 when 4.3 million confirmed registration.

More payers

This year's exam also had the lowest number of exemptions since at least 2014, 2,980,502, representing 58.5% of those enrolled; and the largest number of payers, 2,114,806, equivalent to 41.50%.

According to the Ministry of Education (MEC), the number of confirmed applicants is closer to the number of participants who actually attend the tests: 4.2 million in 2018.

Profile of participants

Women, representing 59.5% of those confirmed, and blacks (46.4% self-declared brown and 12.7% black) are the majority among the candidates who will take the exam this year. Regarding age group, 26.7% are between 21 and 30 years old, 17.8% are 17 years old; 15.9% are 18 years old.

Graduates, those who graduated in previous years, represent 58.7%. And trainers, participants who will not complete basic education this year, are 12.1% of those enrolled.

The Southeast and Northeast regions registered the most registrations. The percentage of registered residents in the first was 35.2% and, in the second, 34.2%. North and South recorded 11.7% and 10.6%, respectively, while the Midwest had the lowest percentage: 8.3%.

Specialized service

This year, Inep received 40,756 requests for specialized assistance, 8,000 for specific assistance and 2,068 for assistance by social name. According to the institute, the numbers of confirmed attendances will be consolidated after the report analysis phase.

Where to use the Enem 2019 note

The tests will be applied on two Sundays, November 3 and 10. Those who have completed high school or will complete it this year can use their Enem scores to enroll in the Unified Selection System (Sisu), which offers vacancies in public institutions of higher education, in the University for All Program (ProUni), which offers scholarships in private institutions of higher education, or in the Student Financing Fund (Faith).
