The correct abbreviation for teacher is teacher. It is not necessary to indicate the masculine, with the letter o. Therefore, the form “profº” is wrong.

In the case of a teacher, identification with the letter a is required, since the word ends in The. So the correct way to abbreviate the word is teacher or prof., the latter being the most current.

In the plural, the abbreviation follows the same rule, adding justthe letter s. So, the correct forms are:
