Suzanne von Richthofen, a Brazilian who was convicted of the murder of her parents, is studying Biomedicine at Faculdade Sudoeste Paulista (UniFSP), in Itapetininga, in the interior of São Paulo. The woman has been serving her sentence in an open regime for about two months.

At the time of the crime, Suzane was studying law at PUC-SP. In 2017, Suzane was approved for the Business Administration course at a university in Taubaté. At the time, she even applied for the Fies student loan program, but did not enroll.

In 2020, Suzane got a place through Sisu in the Tourism Management course at the Federal Institute of Campos do Jordão, but she was not authorized by the Justice to leave Tremembé Penitentiary to attend classes.

In 2021, Suzane obtained the right to study Pharmacy at a university in Taubaté (SP) in court. Soon after, she changed her course option to Biomedicine. Suzane suspended the course, as she got the benefit of serving the remainder of her sentence in freedom.

On October 31, 2002, Daniel (Suzane's boyfriend at the time) and his brother Cristian broke into the house of the Von Richthofen family and brutally murdered Manfred and Marísia (Suzane's parents) with iron bars. Suzane was not present during the actual murders, but provided Daniel with a house key and a map of the property.

Suzane was sentenced to 39 years and 6 months in prison. In 2007 she was transferred to Women's Penitentiary I, in Tremembé, where she served more than 20 years in prison. Her sentence was revised to 34 years and 4 months, and it was on that occasion that she was able to progress to the open regime in court.

The sentence applied to Suzane only ends in 2032, so even under the open regime, she is obliged to inform the Justice of any change of address and to collect at night at the address indicated as your home.
