It is common knowledge that Caixa is the oldest bank that is active in Brazil. Its objective is to defend and preserve public interests in several areas. Furthermore, as it is a federal government company, it also becomes a tool to help manage the country, working with financing and investment.
How does FGTS work and who can receive it?
The Guarantee Fund works in such a way that, at the beginning of the month, the company must deposit 8% of the employee's salary into a Caixa account in the employee's name. Thus, the total value of these monthly deposits makes up the FGTS. Check out the other conditions, in addition to dismissal for just cause, that allow you to withdraw FGTS:
- Retirement and death;
- Invalidation of the contract due to reciprocal fault or force majeure;
- Termination of the contract for a specified period;
- Suspension of part-time work;
- Elderly aged 70 years or older, cancer or other terminal illness;
- HIV carriers;
- Personal, serious and urgent cases caused by natural disasters.
Who can withdraw BRL 6,220 and step by step
Caixa made the calamity withdrawal available to residents of Bahia, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro who suffered from heavy rains in recent months. Workers residing in these affected areas will be able to withdraw up to R$ 6,220.00 from the FGTS. That is, the municipalities that were heavily affected, had their houses flooded and for this reason declared a state of public calamity will receive this aid.
To redeem this amount, the worker must access the FGTS application, select the “My withdrawals” option and, thus, will not need to go to an agency.
