The National Program for Strengthening Family farming (Pronaf) is a public policy whose main objective is to promote and strengthen family farming, one of the pillars of the national economy. Pronaf was created in 1991 with the aim of financially supporting family farmers, providing them with access to financing with lower interest rates for investments in production, commercialization and acquisition of equipment, among others.
Last Wednesday (8), the Ministry of Agrarian Development extended for one year the validity of Pronaf aptitude declarations, expiring between February 8, 2023 and January 31 from 2024. The ordinance was published in the Official Diary of the Union.

However, in the case of declarations of aptitude that have already expired, the farmer will need to issue the Family Agriculture Register (CAF). The ministry informed that it set up a task force to readjust the system, allowing everyone to issue the document. The deadlines will be maintained for declarations of aptitude due on or after February 1, 2024.
According to the ministry:
“The ordinance, signed by Minister Paulo Teixeira, will guarantee access to public policies aimed at the countryside, while the The Family Farming Registry (CAF) system is being improved to better serve male and female farmers relatives".
If you have any questions, you can contact the ministry by email [email protected] or by phone (61) 9965-6115 (call or WhatsApp). In addition to financing, Pronaf also offers training and technical assistance to farmers families, helping them to perfect their production techniques and increase the profitability of their activities.
