The perfect recording!
Contrary to what many might imagine, this video does not involve any montage or alteration of images by the computer. Rather, it is a bona fide record made by Kelli Rogers on the Salt River in Arizona's Tonto National Forest.
In this case, the camerawoman was enjoying her vacation when she looked to the side and saw these two wild horses on the shallow bank of the river and decided to make the recording. However, it was only after she reviewed the video that she was able to identify that she had captured a true optical illusion.
This is because the horses seemed to be walking on water, as if they were floating, although they were only on the shore. Then Kelli did what anyone would do and posted the video on TikTok. Since then, the footage has more than 8.3 million views and the number continues to grow.
The image quickly went viral, and there were those who really believed that the horses were floating in the river. However, despite the surprising images, it is just a good optical illusion.
How do optical illusions work?
An optical illusion is enough to tie a knot in our perception, since they are images constructed through multiple points of view. That's what happens in this case, where there is nothing surprising about this image, except for the great angle and timing of recording.
Here, a phenomenon similar to when we stop the car and the vehicle next to it moves. This generates the impression that we are moving, when in fact we are standing still. In this illusion, the river waves imply that the horses are moving, when in fact they are resting.
