5G will make satellite dishes extinct; understand

Officially, the 5G arrived in Brazil at the beginning of July and the signals are already available in the Federal District. This connection is 20 times faster than 4G and should boost the use of smartphones in the country. However, this can harm Brazilian homes that attend the TV open through satellite dishes, because 5G frequencies can interfere with the signals from these televisions. Check now why 5G will make satellite dishes extinct.

Antennas damage the signal.

Despite today's digital connectivity, many homes still have satellite dishes on top of their homes. Thus, they still use satellite dishes to guarantee the quality of the free-to-air TV signal.

The problem, however, is that satellite dishes in Brazil transmit data over the C band, which operates between 3.7 GHz and 6.45 GHz. 5G operates at 3.5 GHz frequency. Thus, the equipment will need to be removed from the houses and buildings as quickly as possible so as not to delay the operations of the companies in the installation of the new technology.

Thus, the proximity of these frequencies can interfere with the TV image and sound, although the phone's 5G is not affected. With that, in a few months, satellite dishes will disappear, giving way to 5G connectivity without causing any problems.

Part of the population will receive government assistance

Those enrolled in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) who receive government assistance due to lack of resources will receive free benefits for the removal of the antenna. However, part of the Brazilian population will have to pay out of pocket to meet local needs.

To replace it, it is recommended to buy a digital signal to avoid disconnecting free channels. However, the government made antenna kits available in the first half of this year to speed up the 5G implementation process in the country.

Kits to replace satellite TVs

Brazilians registered in CadÚnico can use the so-called “TV antenna kits”. The idea is that people who use a satellite dish (TVRO) can upgrade their equipment to synchronize TV channels more efficiently.

Included in the new kit is a receiver dedicated to audio and video compression, which improves the sound and image quality of transmissions. Thus, for these registered families, everything is available free of charge, with no additional cost.
