Last year, the new rules of the CTB (Brazilian Traffic Code) came into effect. With that, to the delight of many drivers, the limit of infraction points in the National Driver's License (CNH) increased to 40. And if you're curious to know how many points you still have in your wallet, see below how to consult DETRAN fines online.

How to check your fines?
First, you can access all data relating to the driver on the DETRAN website of your state. For example, if the driver is from Bahia, he will have access to his fines and information through DETRAN BA. To do this, just have the CNH or CPF data and the vehicle's RENAVAM at hand.
After providing this data, just look in specific areas of the platform for what you want to access, such as the progress of cases, fines, etc. Even in the state of São Paulo, this query can also be done through the Poupatempo application.
If you prefer the CDT (Digital Traffic Card), just click on the infractions section of the application. With it open, the user will be able to find all the infractions in his name and registered in his CNH.
In this way, it was much simpler and faster for anyone to check their fines, so that with just one device connected to the internet, every driver will be able to access their data without relying on a lot of bureaucracy unnecessary.
What has changed now that the infraction point cap has been increased?
As the points cap has now increased, there have also been some changes regarding when the right to drive is suspended. To reach 20 points, for example, the driver needs two or more very serious infractions. Or else, when 30 points are completed with a very serious infraction, he can already expect a suspension.
In addition, CNH can be suspended even without very serious infractions. However, for this, the driver needs to reach 40 points with only medium or light driving, performing some paid activity.
