What will be the main changes?
The main change is that the new RG will only have the CPF number as a record, that is, the document will have only one number, unlike the current version. In addition, the new version will have a more modern format and measures will be taken to improve data security, without the need to issue the document on paper.
Furthermore, if the new identity card is issued in a state other than the one where the first version of the document was made, it will be considered a duplicate.
Data that will remain in the new RG
Some information will be kept, while others will be added. Among the information that will remain in the new document are a 3×4 photo, full name, date of birth, identification number, affiliation, place of birth, signature of the holder, issuing body and fingerprint of the thumb.
Information that will become part of the RG
Among the novelties are: QR Code for verification of authenticity, blood group and RH factor, seal for identification of elderly or people with disabilities, digital version of the document, validity in all regions of Brazil, declaration if the holder is an organ donor and new deadline of validity. It is worth noting that the look of the document will be unique for the entire country.
When to issue the new identity card?
Anyone using the current RG model can continue with the document until it is valid for ten years, and the new version must be requested after this period. However, the new document can now be requested at municipal service posts. Thus, each city must issue the virtual RG and send it to the holder's email.
According to the Government Decree, the measures have been in force since March 1, 2022, but the country's identification institutes have a deadline to adapt to the changes. Therefore, it was established that the new model must be adopted by March 6, 2023.
