Spider-Man: Never Go Home poster hides big secret

A new poster for "Spider-Man: Never Go Home" was released on Sunday. The play left a big surprise for the fans. It all but hints that the film's villains will team up to fight Spidey as the legendary Sinister Six.

Yes, the poster only confirms four villains: Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Electro and Green Goblin - Octopus' arms may be the poster's most prominent villainous feature. However, there is clearly lightning and sand flowing behind Peter Parker in the image.

Also highlighted in the poster is the Green Goblin in his glider in the upper right corner. But given Sony's long and documented history of attempts and failures to make a film about villains, and the fact that "No Going Back to Home” will smash multiple Spidey universes together, we have a hard time believing the chance to finally put six on screen will be wasted.

But then again, it's just four villains. The Six has, well, six. Who knows. So who will complete the sextet? In fact, there are several possibilities.

Sextet

The original group - which first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man Annual" #1, written by Stan Lee himself – was composed of Dr. Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Mysterio, Vulture and Kraven the hunter. With three of those people already accounted for on the poster that only leaves us with Mysterio, Vulture and Kraven pending.

Let's deal with Mysterio first. Many fans are hoping that Jake Gyllenhaal's villain will somehow be resurrected in "No Going Home", but let's remind you that "Spider-Man: Far From Home" made a point of explicitly saying that his death was not a illusion. So Mysterio, at least as we knew him, probably isn't coming back.

But at least three of the other villains in "No Returning Home" are from other Spidey franchises, thanks to all that Doctor Strange did to the multiverse with that botched spell. Octopus, played by Alfred Molina, hails from “Spider-Man 2”. Electro, played by Jamie Foxx, hails from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” And we're sure it's the Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin from "Spider-Man" we hear laughs in the trailer, even though he hasn't yet confirm.
