With that, the National Traffic Council (Contran) informed that each state must follow a specific driver's license renewal schedule according to the State Department of Traffic (DMV).
In addition, the driver must pay attention, since there have been changes in the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB). One of the new rules changed the duration of the CNH, which was extended to 10 years.
Therefore, as the schedule is defined by the Detran of each municipality, the best thing to do is for the driver to get information together with his state agency so that there are no future problems.
Changes to the driving license
The driver's license underwent updates that began to be valid from this year, according to what was published by Contran at the end of 2021. In addition, CNH has gained a new model that will be available from June 2022.
The new document has other colors, and now it will have green and yellow as the predominant colors, in addition to a new space that will have the types of vehicles and also signals which models the driver is able to to drive.

- If your driver's license expired between March and April 2020, the renewal must have been completed by 12/31/2021;
- If your driver's license expired between May and June 2020, it can be renewed up to 01/31/2022;
- If your driver's license expired between July and August 2020, it can be renewed up to 02/28/2022;
- If your driver's license expired between September and October 2020, it can be renewed up to 03/31/2022;
- If your driver's license expired between November and December 2020, it can be renewed up to 04/30/2022;
- If your driver's license expired between January and February 2021, it can be renewed up to 05/31/2022;
- If your driver's license expired between March and April 2021, it can be renewed up to 06/30/2022;
- If your driver's license expired between May and June 2021, it can be renewed up to 07/31/2022;
- If your driver's license expired between July and August 2021, it can be renewed up to 08/31/2022;
- If your CNH expired between September and October 2021, it can be renewed up to 09/30/2022;
- If your CNH expired between November and December 2021, it can be renewed up to 10/31/2022;
However, if your document has expired outside the periods described above, the renewal must be done in the conventional way. In this case, it is necessary to carry out a new medical evaluation to confirm the driver's ability to drive.
