Almost 1/4 of Brazilian voters are beneficiaries of Auxílio Brasil

Some data that were recently collected through surveys carried out by Datafolha show that approximately 24% of the Brazilian people receive values from the Brazil Aid, made available by the federal government. The program is making monthly payments of R$ 600 per family, and it is worth remembering that this amount will only be paid until December of this year. To be entitled to receive the benefit, it is necessary to have an active and up-to-date registration in CadÚnico (Cadastro Único) and also a monthly per capita income of a maximum of R$ 210.

The data collected by the Datafolha survey showed that for every four Brazilians, one received the benefit amount in the month of August. The rate of beneficiaries of Auxílio Brasil has been considered the highest since the program payments began in November 2021. These numbers are also considered higher than what had been registered with Bolsa Família.

The numbers presented were also confirmed by the Ministry of Citizenship. As disclosed, a little more than 20 million people benefited from the amount of Auxílio Brasil last month. This total does not concern the 24% of the electorate in Brazil, as mentioned earlier, but the Datafolha has considered all the people who are part of a family that is a beneficiary of the Aid Brazil.

In the period between July and August of this year, around 2.2 million Brazilians began to take part in the social program. This increase ended up zeroing the aid queue for a certain period, which was only possible due to the approval of the Benefits PEC, where around R$ 26 billion were released for transfers of government benefits this second semester.

The federal government already estimated that the numbers of the Auxílio Brasil would become bigger and bigger over time. Therefore, during the period of September and December of this year, the Ministry of Citizenship is authorized to make new entries in the benefit. Therefore, people who have not received any of the installments so far may have the chance to receive them.

Regarding the value of the Brazil Aid for 2023, there is still no official confirmation. The increase of R$ 200 is valid until December of this year, and the benefit is expected to return to the monthly value of R$ 400 from January of next year. However, some presidential candidates are promising to continue with the payment of R$ 600.

Regardless of the promises, these decisions need to be evaluated and approved by Congress, and we won't have a response until next year.
