Beer in Brazil is one of the cheapest around the world
The study was released by the CouponValido.com.br discount platform, whose data were collected from Numbeo and Statista (a collaboratively contributed database of prices, which are reported by consumers). The dollar was used in the survey as a currency to make values between different countries comparable.
According to the results, the average value of beer here in Brazil was U$ 1.38. This indicates a value 66% lower than the world average, which had a cost of U$ 4.06 for a 500 ml beer. Thus, the country occupied the tenth place in the ranking.
Most affordable beers
Among the countries that have the cheapest beer, Ethiopia led the ranking, with an average price of just U$ 0.75. Zambia was in second place, with US$ 0.87, and Vietnam in third, with US$ 0.88. As for Latin American countries, only Colombia has a beer cheaper than Brazil, with an average value of U$ 1.06.
Best value beers
Regarding the most expensive beers, the regions of the Middle East and Scandinavia occupied the top of the ranking. The United Arab Emirates took first place, with an average of US$ 10.89 for half a liter of beer.

According to a survey carried out by the consultancy Euromonitor, at the request of the Union of Industries of Beer, the consumption of the drink in Brazil in 2021 was 14.3 billion liters, while in 2020 it was 13.31 billion.

The beer industry in the country is responsible for generating more than 2 million jobs, being direct, indirect and induced. Furthermore, it represents just over 2% of the Gross Domestic Product.
