I spilled the wine, what now?
After spilling wine, you can act quickly by taking a few steps that will help ensure your stain comes out more easily. So, the first actions are:
- Paper
The idea is that you can absorb any excess drink from the clothing to prevent the stain from spreading. So, right after spilling the wine, immediately reach for a piece of paper towel and press down on the spot. Remember not to rub, just lay the paper towel down and press over the stain.
- salt
It's also important to put some salt over the stain, right after the accident. After all, the salt prevents the wine from getting into the fibers of the fabric while it is still wet. So, after that, just wait to act for a few minutes, and put the piece to wash or, if the stain is on objects such as chairs, tables, sofas and mattresses, pass a sponge with soap.
- Hot water
This tip is great because you can use it both in clothes and in furniture in the house. Then, separate a bucket with hot water and neutral soap mixed together and pass it over the place where the wine was spilled. Even after the stain is dry, the best thing to do is clean it with hot water.
- Lemon
This tip is very useful and you can do it in two ways, however, be careful when using it on colored clothes so as not to stain. You can first squeeze the lemon over the stain and then rub the salt, or mix the lemon with the salt, let it act for 1 hour on the clothes and then wash normally.

This is a mixture that can help you when removing wine stains. So, you just apply the mixture on the spot, when the stain is already dry, and rub a lot. - White wine and baking soda
Finally, to remove a red wine stain that is already dry, another option is to mix white wine with baking soda and apply it to the spot. First, put the white wine and then the bicarbonate, finish with a little water and let it act for a few minutes. After that, just wash the garment normally or pass a damp cloth with detergent over the object.
