New INSS proof of life rules:
On December 31, 2022, the suspension of the mandatory proof of life for retirees and pensioners ends. As of January 2023, the measure becomes mandatory, but in a different way. In order to guarantee the benefit, proof of life will begin to be carried out by the INSS (National Social Security Institute), calling the beneficiary only in a last case.
In this way, the INSS will prove proof of life through public and private data consultations to be sure that the beneficiary is alive and should continue receiving the benefit. The institute will use the following types of data for proof of life: access to the 'my INSS' app, income tax return and access to the Unified Health System (SUS). According to government data, proof of life benefits 36 million people.
Calling the beneficiary only as a last resort
If the INSS is unable to locate the beneficiary among the data provided by the government or private networks, it will be necessary to summon the beneficiary so that proof of life can be made.
However, if you want to avoid this scenario, in view of all the practicality that this new rule makes available, just regularly access the 'my INSS' application at least once a month. To access your account, simply download the application from the Apple Store (in the case of an iPhone) or Google Play (in the case of cell phones with an android system).
