Bolsa Família is a government social program that aims to reduce poverty and social inequality in the country. It works as a direct income transfer to families living in poverty and extreme poverty.
The new program will pay BRL 600 per family, plus BRL 150 per child up to six years old. As of June, you will also be paid a additional BRL 50 per member between 7 and 18 years of age and pregnant women who are part of the family.
The program is administered by the Ministry of Citizenship, which registers eligible families and pays monthly benefits.
Beneficiary families also need to meet certain conditions, such as keeping children in school and being up to date on vaccinations.
Rita Serrano, president of Caixa, said that the bank is prepared to operate the new Bolsa Família. She also complements by saying that Brazil left the Hunger Map in 2014, largely because of Bolsa Família.
The president of the bank also stated that beneficiaries will receive the benefit amounts on debit cards.
