Teenagers who are LGBTQIA+ often face major problems disclosing their sexuality to their families. After all, contemporary society still bears many marks of homophobia, which remained the norm for a long time. In this sense, a video in which a father caught his son putting on makeup went viral on the internet due to the emotional reaction of the parent.

Young Daniel Díaz, who was only eighteen at the time, was in the bedroom doing a makeup tutorial. During the beginning of video, there is nothing unusual, just a beauty routine that we are used to seeing in thousands of other videos on the internet. However, at a certain point, footsteps are heard and, shortly thereafter, someone enters the room.
At that moment, Daniel makes the quick decision to turn off the light in the room and tries to hide while asking his father “not to make him cry”. Only then can we understand that it is the boy's father who enters the room and that Daniel was afraid of his reaction to seeing him in makeup. For a few seconds, the guardian tries to turn on the light to talk to the child.
So, he ends up telling his son that it didn't matter what he wanted to do, he would be fine with the decision. Afterwards, he emphasizes that he would not do anything bad to his son, but that, on the contrary, he would be with him no matter what happened. Finally, the father says only that he wants his son to be happy in his own way.
The importance of family love
Daniel Díaz's video quickly went viral on the internet and already has more than 500,000 views on YouTube. This is not by chance, since it is still rare to find such a statement of support from a father to a gay son. Shortly after the repercussion of the video, Daniel says that, until now, he had not revealed to his family what his sexuality was.
Thus, that record was, in fact, the first time that his parents saw him as he really was. Although many family members still insist on repressing their children, this boy was fortunate to have a family that was considerate of his sexual identity. Surely, it should be like this for all young people.
