As of the publication of a decree by the federal government on Friday (3), state identification institutes will have up to November 6 to comply with the issuance of the National Identity Card (CIN), the new RG that unifies registration throughout the country.
The document is more modern and secure, presenting the CPF as the only identification number and having a digital format by the application Gov.br. So far, 11 Brazilian states are already able to issue the new card.

The Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) is providing technical support to the states to carry out the service. More than 175,000 documents have already been downloaded in digital format and around 200,000 have been physically issued.
With the new version of the identification document, the citizen now has a single identification number, instead of several RG numbers per state, in addition to the CPF.
CIN comes with a QR Code, which can be read by any suitable device, such as a smartphone. This allows electronic validation of its authenticity, as well as knowing if it has been stolen or lost.
The inclusion of an international standard code called MRZ makes the identification document also valid as a travel document. Although Brazil only has agreements for the use of the identity document at immigration posts with Mercosur countries, the new card is legally valid throughout the national territory. If the citizen forgets the physical document, he can present the digital version on his cell phone.
