New ecological park will be inaugurated in São Bernardo do Campo

Six trails, cable car and about 490 thousand square meters in full Atlantic forest. This is the structure offered by the Parque Ecológico Imigrantes, a ecotourismabout to be inaugurated in São Bernardo do Campo, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.

The initiative is the result of an investment of R$ 14 million by the Kunito Miyasaka Foundation, an institution linked to the Japanese community in the country. The incentive for research in environmental education and nature preservation appears as a true oasis close to the jungle of buildings and concrete in the city of São Paulo.

With opening scheduled for the 29th of November, the Parque Ecológico Imigrantes carries a philosophy sustainable in which its forms, structures and volumes were designed in order to cause the least environmental impact possible. Of the total of this green immensity, only a portion will be destined for public visitation.

Echologic Park

Free visits can even be scheduled from December. The exploration of the park will be supported by six trails with different levels of difficulty, an eight-meter walkway tall (the ones that put you next to the treetops), accessibility for the elderly and wheelchair users, in addition to a cableway.

The main walkway, by the way, follows the sustainability motto of the park. Most of the raw material (70%) comes from wood waste, such as sawdust. The rest is made with plastic waste, such as PET bottles. The reuse of material guaranteed the park the international socio-environmental certificate.

The 1,710 m² of covered built area are irrigated with a water circuit through rain collection. The network supplies two lakes, three reservoirs and a water mirror, but the water taken from the tap is not drinkable. Oh, and back to the trails, one of the highlights is the Sensorial Trail, which offers visitors an incredible forest experience.

All this is surrounded by ferns, mastic trees and other plant species inhabited by a varied fauna, such as monkeys, tapirs (the largest herbivore in Latin America and native to the forest) and foxes. In suspended cells, study centers on the Atlantic Forest will be set up, with state-of-the-art information technology, in addition to an amphitheater.

Conceived eleven years ago, the Imigrantes Ecological Park is located at kilometer 34.5 of Rodovia dos Imigrantes, in the Curucutu neighborhood, towards São Paulo. Visits can be scheduled through the website, from the 10th of December. More information can be obtained at the address: http://www.parqueecologicoimigrantes.org.br/
