More than 5 million families benefited

In order to reduce the impact resulting from the increase in the price of gas cylinders, the Proposal for Amendment to the Constitution No. 1/2022 increased the amount allocated to Vale-Gás. Now, the benefit is equivalent to 100% of the price of cooking gas. In Brazil, 5.6 million families are registered to receive Vale-Gás. Payment is made by Caixa Econômica Federal and is already available for the month of August from the 9th. If in doubt, check whether you are on the beneficiary list.

How to check if you have been approved

Consultation with those approved to receive the benefit can be done online or by telephone, and all you have to do is inform the CPF number. The digital consultation is done through the applications:

  • Brazil Aid – Enter only the CPF and NIS number;
  • box has – Login with CPF and password.

By telephone, assistance is provided by Caixa Econômica at number 111, or by the Ministry of Citizenship at number 121.

As it intends to contribute to the purchase of the gas cylinder, the Vale-Gás is paid only every two months and the money is made available together with the Auxílio Brasil. In the month of August, payment varies according to the NIS number, respectively:

  • NIS 1, 2, 3 and 4, payment will be made on August 9, 10, 11 and 12;
  • NIS 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 will be paid on August 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19;
  • NIS 0, payment on the 22nd of August.

Requirements to receive assistance

The Federal Government lists the cases in which the person can register and have access to the benefit, as well as to maintain receipt. There are four main ones, not cumulative with each other:

  • Enrollment in the Single Registry and monthly family income per person less than or equal to the current minimum wage – R$606;
  • Families who receive the Benefit of Continued Benefit (BPC) and live in the same property;
  • Seniors aged 65 or over or people with disabilities who are demonstrably unable to support their family;
  • Family nucleus with a woman victim of domestic violence and under urgent protective measure.
