MEC publishes rules on school attendance
As it is a welfare program, Auxílio Brasil has requirements that must be followed. One of them is described in the ordinance published in June 2022 by the Ministry of Education (MEC) with the Ministry of Citizenship. This new rule refers to the enrollment and attendance of classes by children and adolescents whose families receive the aid in question.
By always seeking to encourage education, norms of the type are created for these minors. There are also other stimuli, of course, such as complementary student and sports benefits. This is the case of Auxílio Esporte Escolar, as it promotes practical group work and skills individuals, as well as working on awakening sports talents that may even represent the country in the future.
How does the new ordinance work?
In the published document, school attendance will be calculated monthly with bimonthly results. The calculation of the percentage attendance rate will be based on the school days of each teaching segment, grade or school year, in their respective states, municipalities and in the Federal District. The minimum frequency being defined as:
- 60% for those aged 4 to 5 years;
- 75% for those aged 6 to 17 years;
- 75% for those aged 18 to 21 who are enrolled in basic education.
As it was possible to notice, the percentage value will vary depending on age. In addition, information on the presence of young people is recorded by professionals from the education network in the national system for collecting and recording attendance.
