Changes in helmet use
In general, some rules regarding the use of helmets remain practically the same, such as the mandatory use of a visor in the equipment. For models that do not have this accessory, the motorcyclist must use specific protection glasses, other than sunglasses or prescription glasses. In addition, another rule determines that retroreflective elements are used, both on the sides and on the back of the helmet.
It is also important to remember that the rules apply to both the pilot and the passenger. To avoid fines and punishments, it must be secured to the head by the jugular strap and the hitch, well below the lower jaw. If the helmet is not used, a fine of BRL 293.47 can be generated and even the suspension of the National Driver's License (CNH). For those who do not have one of the specifications, the fine reaches R$ 193.23.
In general, the changes are the result of the unification of the latest guidelines of the agency, which are now part of resolution 940/22. Thus, the rules are valid for riders and pillion of motorcycles, motorized quadricycles, motorized tricycles, scooters and mopeds. However, it is important to remember that they do not apply in cases of vehicles with three wheels with a closed cab.
Importance of wearing a helmet
According to some studies, the recommended use of the helmet, with all its specifications and items approved by the Inmetro, can prevent about 69% of head injuries, in addition to other injuries to the face, in case of accident. When correctly buckled and with all its accessories, it becomes an excellent ally in preventing damage to the motorcyclist and passengers in traffic.
