Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton, has revealed what her character will look like. After all, the fictional husband of the actress in the series (Simon Basset) is not part of the cast of the new season.
The artist gave an interview to The Wrap and made a warning to fans. According to her, the sequel to Bridgerton will be "definitely different". In the end, the character Daphne gives way to another protagonist and she becomes a supporting character in the story. The spotlight turns to brother Anthony Bridgerton, played by actor Jonathan Bailey.
“I've said this before, but I think fans who have read the books are aware that each season will focus on a different brother's journey […]. And it might be a little bit more, not a shock but a surprise for fans who love Daphne and Simon's story so much,” she said.
Story faithful to the book
The actress highlights an important point. The series is based on the literary work of the same name by writer Julia Quinn. So far, the plot has been pretty faithful to the events of the books. Thus, the continuation of the series on Netflix is expected to remain close to the faithful account.
However, fans really got attached to Daphne, even more so after the character became a mother. At the end of the first season, her baby is born alongside the Duke of Hastings. Although her father does not appear, the series should not abandon the character so soon. Phoebe, however, claims that her focus will be more on the Bridgerton family.
“He [Duque] will certainly be referred to a lot. I think we will see the baby […]. We're going to focus more on [Daphne's] relationship with her family."
She also believes that the grace of the series is precisely its originality between each season. “There aren't many TV shows that do that, that focus on different characters each season. But I think each season will have its magic, which is great,” she pointed out.
Spin off is being prepared
For Bridgerton lovers, it is worth mentioning that Netflix is preparing more than a new season. The platform is working on producing a parallel series based on the early years of Queen Charlotte. The production includes Daphne's mother, Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.
