Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock announced the interruption of production and marketing of the Leish-Tec vaccine, used to combat Leishmaniasis, a disease that affects animals and human beings.
The measure was adopted in order to avoid possible damage to the health of both animals and people. In all, the decision covers eight batches of the vaccine and was taken after an inspection that identified flaws in production.

In inspections, it was found that some batches of the vaccine had a content of a protein called A2, at levels below the minimum required.
These inspections are carried out regularly in veterinary product factories, in order to verify manufacturing practices and quality control.
In addition, reports of adverse effects that may eventually be sent by immunization manufacturers are also taken into account.
As informed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the company responsible for manufacturing has already started recall of the batches in question, which are: 29, 37, 43, 44 and 60, produced in 2022, and batches 004, 006 and 17, produced in 2023.
