A Light for the Future: The Chip Shortage Is Easing

The nightmare for the major electronic device industries is reaching its final stage. According to Foxconn, a multinational known for assembling products for Apple, Sony, HP and Dell, by the first quarter of 2022 the shortage of chips will have decreased considerably.

The multinational is confident with the expected results for this year, despite not producing semiconductors, it buys in bulk to manufacture its products. The company estimates that it spends around 55,000 million dollars a year on them.

Is this the end of the crisis?

However, even if more chips can be made, the solution to the crisis is not so quick. That's because electronics manufacturers are still wary of buying more components than they really need to deal with possible outbreaks of Covid-19. This practice can affect the law of supply and demand.

TSMC, the largest chipmaker on the planet, says that the offer for them will still remain complicated in the year 2022. For CC Wei, CEO of the company, manufacturers, observing the reduction of shortages, will try to maintain a high level of orders, with the objective of maintaining the stock.

The forecast for the future regarding chip shortages

Indeed, the scarcity of semiconductors has created many problems for the electronics industry. Currently, getting a console or a graphics card is a difficult task. Sony, for example, had to remanufacture the PS4 to offer an alternative in the midst of the crisis.

Several global industries were affected, including the automobile industry. Companies like Toyota and General Motors, for example, had to reduce car production in some of their factories.

The Taiwanese company Foxconn will still need more chips to maintain its expansion. Not only is it the largest producer of iPhones in the world, it also supplies chips to the automotive industry. Thus, one of its objectives for the years 2025 to 2027 is to supply 10% of vehicle components worldwide.
