The Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) of the Federal Senate last week voted in favor of the new measure to grant zero IPVA to owners of small motorcycles.
However, the matter will still be debated in plenary by the 81 members of the Senate. The approved amendment – authored by Senator Chico Rodrigues (Unio-PR) – now expands the measure to include motorcycles with up to 170 cylinders, where only 150 cc was previously allowed. Check it out!

Most owners of low-capacity motorcycles, according to the legislator, are people who use these vehicles as a means of transportation to work. He also claims that the approximately 300 reais saved in IPVA are already helping these people's personal budget.
The category of motorcycles that will be exempt from IPVA
The project that was approved by the committee at the end of last year, until now, only benefited owners of motorcycles with up to 150 cylinders. However, the proposal was returned for review because it received two additional amendments during the voting process that must be reviewed.
Thus, the new changes anticipate that zero IPVA for motorcycles will be applied to models of up to 170 cylinders. Senator Mecias de Jesus (Republicanos-RR) accepted the requests and stated that, even if a resolution is reached to reduce the tax, it should not replace the laws of each state.
Pay your tax by credit card
The only way to pay IPVA, for many years, was through bank slips – which is still the most popular method among citizens. In addition, depending on the region, the total tax amount can still be divided from three to five times.
In the current moment in which we live, digital cards also accept payment of bank slips on credit cards, which is why it becomes possible to pay the IPVA in installments. Thus, digital banks, to keep up with this trend, are specialized in paying taxes. For example, in some states, Zapay has a partnership with the Detran.
