'Fortnite' goes offline and players can't access their accounts

The company did not say what is causing the problem. However, on its status website, the company describes the incident as a "major disruption". That same web page notes that the Epic Games Store is suffering from "performance degradation".

According to Downdetector, there are also reports of people being unable to play GTA Online and access Discord, but it's unclear if these incidents are related.

2021 has seen its share of notable internet outages. It was only earlier this month that an Amazon Web Services network issue caused many sites, including Disney+ and Vice, to be inaccessible part of the day. Importantly, Fortnite runs on an AWS backend.
