Do you need to wash the eggs before putting them in the fridge?
Although many people still insist on washing eggs before storing them in the fridge, know that this is a bad practice! This happens because the egg has a thin outer layer that protects it from invasion by microorganisms, such as bacteria.
Thus, the egg can have a longer conservation time and the washing should only be done at the time of consumption. However, cleaning when using it must be done quickly and under running water, as the product is capable of absorbing water and impurities.
Also, remember not to use bushings or cloths, regardless of whether they are dry or wet. This is because these materials remove the outer layer of the egg, leaving it exposed to attack by microorganisms.
Therefore, the most recommended thing is to pass only a dry paper towel on the egg shell before taking it to the fridge. Also, do not use any chemical products, such as alcohol, bleach or disinfectant.
Otherwise, if you still choose to sanitize the egg before consumption, this food can be affected by bacteria, such as the famous Salmonella. Thus, the egg can end up being a “vehicle” of the microorganism that causes diseases to humans.
So, how to store eggs in the refrigerator?
After passing the dry paper towel on the shell of each egg, the ideal thing is that you put them in a container and put them in the fridge. However, it cannot undergo sudden changes in temperature, and therefore it should not be stored in the refrigerator door, due to the act of opening and closing the equipment.
So, the correct orientation is that you add the eggs in a bowl, store it in the bottom of the fridge and only remove it when you are going to use it.
