The function was already being tested for some time. There was a pause in development and only now beta users have started to get a taste of what it will be like on a day-to-day basis.
According to the WABetaInfo website, which usually advances all WhatsApp news, users will receive an introductory screen as soon as they open the app. Thus, they will receive information about audio transcription and, mainly, how this new feature will work.
Speaking of which, how will WhatsApp audio transcription work?
The feature will work automatically. That is, you will not need to click on anything. As soon as a person sends you an audio on WhatsApp, the transcript will appear just below.
It is important to point out that the function is still in the process of being improved, that is, it is not 100% perfect and can confuse many words. In addition, the system may not recognize some phonemes or may not support audio in languages not yet supported by the application.
However, don't worry. Our good old Portuguese is now available for transcription.
