separate the ingredients
There are some variations in cornmeal bread recipes, but this is the most traditional and the one that most pleases the palates. To make it, you basically need to combine the ingredients in simple processes. But first of all, write down what you will need:
- 2 cups (tea) of mimoso cornmeal;
- 2 cups (tea) wheat flour;
- 1 and ½ cup (tea) sugar;
- 2 eggs;
- 2 egg yolks beaten (for finishing);
- 3 tablespoons of margarine;
- 1 tablespoon (soup) of baking powder;
- ½ cup (tea) of milk, or enough to give the point.
These amounts will be enough to prepare ten traditional-sized breads. However, the amount may vary depending on the thickness and size of the bread you choose. Now, pay attention to the processes.
bread preparation
As we have already mentioned, the preparation is relatively simple and consists of putting the ingredients together. However, you should pay attention, as it will be important to separate the dry and wet ingredients. Check it step by step:
- Separate a bowl and add the dry ingredients, which are: wheat flour, cornmeal, sugar and yeast;
- Mix these ingredients, preferably using your hands after proper hygiene;
- Soon after, add the eggs, margarine and milk. In this case, it will be necessary to add the milk little by little while mixing until it forms a thick farofa;
- Then model the breads with the help of a spoon and arrange them in a rectangular shape sprinkled with cornmeal. Also, make sure there's enough space between the buns so they don't stick together;
- Now, take the shape to the fridge for just 5 minutes until the dough is firmer. When removing them, finish brushing with the beaten egg yolk;
- Then, take the shape to the preheated oven at 180º for approximately 40 minutes or until golden;
- Expect to cool down and serve this deliciousness any way you prefer!
