WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow users to reply to individual messages sent and received during a conversation using emojis. According to official information, the new Beta version of the Android app will allow users to reply to a message using other emojis available on the keyboard. This is possible by selecting the plus sign (“+”) button that was added to the left side of the initial emoji selection, which moves across the screen when you click on a specific message.
As the implementation has not yet been completed, it is not possible to know which new emojis will be supported, nor whether the selection can be limited or include the entire catalog of emojis available in the device. The response with emojis already exists and allows the use of any expression in the chat on Facebook Messenger and Instagram, both owned by the same company that owns WhatsApp.

Previously, testing for this feature only required selecting six fixed emojis: a thumbs up, a heart, a crying face, a smile, a sigh of relief, palms together (which can be indicative of prayer or thanks) and a little face spilling a teardrop. The feature was first discovered in January of this year and has since been shut down.
The purpose of creating this new feature is that users can assign more personality to conversations, indicating reactions according to each message. In this way, it is possible for the other to have an interaction closer to reality during a live compared conversation. This is because during a dialogue, the other is able to analyze the reactions according to what is said. The idea of reactions to messages, therefore, follows the same pattern.
