Countries whose visas are more difficult to obtain
Check out the list of the most bureaucratic countries when it comes to getting a visa:
1. China
Getting a visa to China is often time consuming and requires a lot of paperwork, although it can be done in your home country – or your country of permanent residence. The process becomes even longer and more bureaucratic if you choose to visit areas of geopolitical conflict like Western China, or if you need to stay in the country for more than 30 days. In addition, in these two cases mentioned, you will need to provide a daily and detailed itinerary of your trip.
2. Russia
In order to apply for a visa, you must receive a letter of invitation to Russia, which must be sent by a travel agency accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the executive body of the Federation Russian. After that, you will receive and need to fill an online application form. A minimal error in filling out almost always results in delays of months or rejection of the document.
3. India
India has an electronic visa but, what should be easy, actually becomes much more tiring. This is because the online application form is very large and filling it out is often frustrating. Depending on the chosen browser, the payment of the fee is not processed, as the Bank of India – the only bank responsible for receiving payment of the fee – is almost always with the system down.
When the electronic visa is processed but is rejected, the standard visa application at the embassy is an alternative. However, it is significantly more expensive and requires presenting your passport at the embassy, another application form and a pile of documents.
4. Will
Iran is not exactly difficult to get a visa, but it is very bureaucratic and has some restrictions. First, before you can even apply for a visa, you need to issue a verification code issued by an official Iranian travel agency – similar to what happens in Russia. After that, it is possible to apply for the electronic visa, but the process remains long. Also, it is not possible to obtain a visa if you have visited Israel within the last 6 months, so be sure to check the calendar if you have visited this country!
