More mass layoffs are being undertaken by financial institutions

The negotiation process of campaign salary of workers in the bank category - whose base date is the month of September - has not yet ended, nor has the signing of the Collective Labor Contract (CCT), but bankers have already returned to invest against workers with yet another wave of mass layoffs.

On the last September 12th, the bankers of Banco Itaú/Unibanco made an announcement about the outsourcing of the entire Customer Service (SAC) sector located in the city of Tatuapé, in São Paul.

There are approximately 270 workers who, according to information provided by the professionals, will have around 120 days to be able to relocate to another area of the bank.

The point is that everyone who works for Itaú/Unibanco knows that it is almost impossible to get a job in any another part or area of activity in the company, as they are with its staff filled. Therefore, when this period comes to an end and they are not able to get any reallocation in the bank, they will be – automatically – disconnected from their functions in the institution.

understand the measure

It is worth highlighting that what is really behind all these outsourcing in the internal banking sectors is the bankers' policy. One that aims to increase its profits at the expense of laying off workers.

They will use the move of replacing the company's effective employee - who receives a better salary - for another whose remuneration must be lower, without rights also guaranteed in the Collective Agreement of the Category banking. This, of course, if there are new hires, since their current policy is to try to reduce the staff, this has ended up overloading those who are working. In this way, a professional is now performing functions that should be distributed between two or more people.

The data we receive regarding layoffs from year to year is relatively frightening. So that it is possible to have an idea, only in the period of 12 months, starting in March 2021, a contingent of approximately 36,348 workers lost their jobs in institutions banking.

Another very important point to comment on is that one of the most serious problems regarding dismissals concerns the way they are being carried out, since some fake allegations of bankers that try to justify an increase in digital channels of payment. However, it is quite simple to notice that none of this proceeds. Just the citizen go to a bank branch. Due to the lack of staff to assist, huge queues of customers are formed waiting for assistance. People end up waiting for hours.
