Colleges that have adapted to the bilingual program have seen a significant increase in foreign language learning by students. This is a reflection of how easy it is for children to learn, as well as the constant work with the other language.

  • More and more parents are looking for schools that teach a second language, as they think about the development of their children. They know that it is necessary to know how to speak other languages, which is also a differential for their future career;
  • With the increasingly early introduction of children to the internet, they discover drawings and other content in a language other than their own and are interested in understanding what is being said.

To give you an idea, in São Paulo alone, the number of students in these institutions has advanced significantly: from 2,800 to 4,600 enrolled.

According to Ministry of Education (MEC), Brazil has around 40,000 private schools and 1,200 apply the bilingual program.

What are the characteristics of this method

According to the Organization of Bilingual Schools of São Paulo (OEBI), the schools that dedicate – at least – 75% of your workload in another language, in the case of elementary school, and 25% in teaching average.

The great differential of this form of learning is, without a doubt, the immersion of the child or adolescent in the foreign language. After all, not only is grammar and conversation taught in another language, but they also work on its application in everyday life.

For this, other school subjects are in the second language, making the student able to understand and communicate about these topics through learning immersion. This stimulates him in a unique way and is considered one of the main reasons for the success of this project.

Therefore, we can say that each person has their time when we talk about learning a new language, but it is possible to ensure that when we have the presence of the other language in everyday life, it is certain that knowledge will be more solid.
