In 10 years of history and work, this is the first time that rural producer Fabrício Maestrello will make a significant reduction in his soybean planting in the harvest that will be sown in September. In fact, of the current 1,200 bushels (about 2,900 hectares) that are usually cultivated by farmers in the region of Paranacity, located northwest of Paraná, the producer he decided to plant only half, and not all of his land, as he had done previously.
In this sense, the great reason for the producer to make this reduction lies in the fact that there is a price increase of these inputs. "The increase was much higher than the appreciation of the grain, it is a business that you already owe", said the farmer in an interview. Thus, still in agreement with Fabrício, the highest increases that directly impacted the producer's pocket were those of fertilizers, pesticide and fuel.

In this way, throughout this year, the producer estimates that he has already spent around 6.2 thousand reais for tons of fertilizer, a value that is 120% higher than the value that was disbursed in the
vintage last. In addition, with regard to the liter of herbicide, the rural producer ended up paying 90 reais, an amount that appears to be four times the amount spent in 2021.In this account, which is only growing, it is worth emphasizing that the tractor diesel account is also included. “It used to cost R$4 a liter and now it's almost R$7”, says the producer. During the period, soybeans on the futures market rose by around 40%. In addition, according to surveys carried out by different financial institutions, the great pressure on product costs that the producer has been facing is what will happen to all other Brazilian producers who, in theory, will experience the most expensive crop in the history of the entire Country.
