Lula government increases the number of ministries from 22 to 37

Currently, the Bolsonaro government has 23 folders – 18 of which are from the ministry, two secretariats and three bodies equivalent to ministries. The former president of the republic had promised in his election campaign in 2018, a reduction in the number of ministries to 15. Despite not having achieved his goal, Bolsonaro reached 23 portfolios, excluding or integrating several ministries linked to areas such as human rights, cultures, social security and others.

  • In the new Government of President Lula, he will maintain the following ministries: Health, Education, Science and Technology, Foreign Affairs, Mines and Energy, Environment, Defense, Justice, Tourism, Public Security, Agriculture and Communication.
  • The Ministry of Economy will be divided into three: Finance, Planning, Budget and Industry and Commerce. In addition, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security will be divided into two: Labor and Employment and Social Security.
