How can a steak dish be so expensive?

Well, the truth is that the biggest interest of the winner of the auction was not even the steak dish, but who would accompany him during this lunch. This company is nothing more, nothing less than Warren Buffett, philanthropist and chairman of Berkshire Hathaway. The company is a global giant and owns large shares of other companies such as Apple, Coca-Cola and Visa.

You might be wondering, then, what makes people crave Buffett's company over lunch so much.

Well, it all started when Warren's late wife, Susie Buffett, created a kind of auction to raise funds for charity. The idea was to use the Buffett family surname to encourage bidding. As you may have noticed, the strategy worked out super well, and the recent winner has the highest bid record on the show: 19 million dollars!

How does the charity work?

The auction was prepared by Ebay Power of One Charity Auction Meal in partnership with GLIDE, an NGO that fights to transform the reality of needy people. This institution focuses on solving problems related to poverty, homeless people and other racial and social problems.

The amount of US$19 million raised with the auction will be used by the NGO to carry out various actions and social campaigns.
