Being at a university is a dream come true for many. The student prepares to choose the path to follow, plans all the possibilities that may arise and decides to face the fears of entering higher education. With Patrícia Linares, a freshman on the biomedicine course at a private university in Bauru (SP), prospects were almost dashed in the first days of class.
Completing 45 years of age this Tuesday (14), Patrícia entered higher education on February 27. Dreams were postponed for many years, as the reality of many does not allow studies to come first. In an interview given to G1, the freshman says that studying biomedicine is her childhood dream.

Video surprises freshman
When entering the university, the woman was surprised by a viral video of three classmates last Friday (10). In the video, colleagues make fun of Patrícia for being over 40 years old and being a freshman in higher education. One of the three girls, in a mocking tone, says that this is the age to be retiring.
Patrícia, surprised by the snobbish reception of her colleagues, says that she found out about the video from someone in her class. When watching the video, afraid of the course assignments and the new things she has been facing, she says she started to cry. On the same day, the other classmates demonstrated that they were against the attitudes of the three women who were making fun of the situation.
Promptly, Patrícia was welcomed after the repercussion of the video. The gang, in solidarity, presented Patricia with chocolates, flowers and affectionate letters.
“It's a teenage dream that I could never fulfill because I had several study interruptions. And now I'm not going to give up either, the dream didn't die inside me”, said the freshman.
After the turbulent days that the video provided, Patrícia returned to the university last Monday (13), on the eve of her birthday. As a gift from life and colleagues, affection and acceptance at this time were indispensable.
