O british government announced that it will fund another year of research into the Madeleine McCann case. The English girl disappeared in May 2007, in the city of Algarve, in Portugal. Since then, more than 11 million euros (about R$48 million) have been spent looking for her.
The request for the renewal of funding was made in March by the Metropolitan Police. According to Sky News, the police received authorization to use more resources. The purpose of the funding is to continue the research, which began in 2013.

Kate and Gerry McCann, Madeleine's parents, vowed never to give up on finding their missing daughter. In a statement, the family is extremely grateful for the Metropolitan Police's efforts and funding.

The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann
Madeleine disappeared on May 3, 2007, in a tourist complex in Praia de Luz, south of Portugal. The English girl was 3 years old and on holiday with her parents and siblings when she disappeared.
The parents went out to dinner with a couple of friends at a restaurant inside the tourist complex, approximately 50 meters from the room where Madeleine was, her siblings and other children. Parents and friends took turns checking on the children every 15 minutes.
As soon as it was Kate's turn to go to her room, she realized that her daughter Madeleine had disappeared. Since then, investigations have begun and several hypotheses about the disappearance have been created. However, a conclusion was never reached about what happened to Madeleine.
Case has been unresolved for over 12 years
In May 2019, the Madeleine McCann disappearance case turned 12 years old. Shortly before the date, a German citizen was appointed by the police as a new suspect for the girl's kidnapper.
Prior to the disclosure of the new suspect, scientist Mark Pelin, a participant in the investigation, said that a turnaround could happen.
Due to the great repercussions that have permeated the disappearance for years, Netflix has launched a series documentary about the case, which reveals details about the investigation and has testimonies about the disappearance. However, Madeleine McCann's parents did not contribute to the production of the series.
