Consuming chocolate daily
Some nutrition experts claim that eating dark chocolate every day can lower blood pressure, benefit the heart and improve mood. In addition, other professionals also claim that chocolate can prevent certain types of cancer, strokes and even improve your memory.
However, if you eat chocolate, always choose the bitter one, which is the darkest. The ideal would be to consume those that have 85% cocoa or more, as they have less fat and less sugar than milk chocolate.
Studies prove
Seoul National University in South Korea has published research indicating that healthy adults who consume at least less than 30 grams of dark chocolate with 85% cocoa daily feel happier than those who do not have the same habit.
To reach this conclusion, the scientists looked at the data of 46 participants over three weeks. Thus, some guinea pigs consumed the 30 grams of chocolate with 85% cocoa, others consumed the 30 grams of chocolate, but with 70% cocoa, and the others did not consume any chocolate during all these days.
In order to observe and evaluate the “level of happiness”, all participants were subjected to a daily psychological scale. They rated their emotions and feelings, with scores from one to five, against adjectives about positive and negative moods.
Soon, the researchers came to the conclusion that the negative mood was significantly reduced by group that consumed dark chocolate with 85% cocoa, but not among people who consumed the portion with only 70%.
