The American series Eu, a Patroa e as Crianças, whose original name is My wife and Children, was first shown in 2001 by the American TV network ABC and had five seasons.
The story revolves around the character Michael Richard Kyle, a modern husband and father who teaches rules of coexistence with a very characteristic way. He is married to Janet Marie Johnson Kyle, better known as Jay, with whom he has three children: Junior, Claire and little Kady. With a good humored way, the father teaches the children how to behave in life.
In the United States, the series was so successful that other countries began to air it. In Brazil, for example, in 2002, it began to be broadcast on open TV, on SBT, and was also quite successful with the public.
What intrigues fans of the series, however, is the fact that it was canceled during the fifth season, at a time when there was everything to happen to an upheaval in the family.
Why was the series cancelled?
At the end of the fifth season, when everyone expected a turnaround in the series with the announcement of Jay's pregnancy, the cancellation occurred. As they say, on the same day the episode aired, the series was canceled by ABC TV.
The cause of the end of the series was hushed up for a long time, but one of the explanations that is had today is that it may have come to an end due to a competition with the American Idol program. That's because there was a drop in audience caused by the freshman show, which was shown by Fox every Tuesday.
Fans were quite saddened by this sudden end, and many even ask for the series to come back at some point. However, this return is very unlikely to happen.
