What is the weather forecast for January 2023: summer arrived with everything?

The forecast for January 2023 is clear: rainy days are not a rule, as the south of Brazil it does not usually present them during the month of January, except in the East of Santa Catarina, in Paraná. temperature was 28.6°C.

Porto Alegre has the highest average temperature for the entire year in January, with 20.7°C in February and 19.4°C in December. The highest average occurs in the capital in January, with 31.0°C, the highest of all months of the year.

The second month of the season is under the strong influence of La Niña, the phenomenon that cools the waters of the Pacific and is responsible for the impact on the climate during the last few months. The beginning of summer has been different, as Brazilians themselves indicate. The peak arrived in Brazil in October, but this is the third beginning of summer influenced by the phenomenon.

La Niña will be neutralized and should not occur until the end of the summer, but the month of January will still be under strong influences of the event.

The month of January will start with irregular rains, as indicated by MetSul. Most of these rains will be in the Southeast and Midwest of Brazil. Areas may be affected by landslides and floods, with the greatest risk presented in São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Isolated storms are forecast for Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro.
