“Sometimes I dream that I go back to college and I have a practice where I have to dissect a frog. In the dream, I feel feverish and unable to perform. I used to hate these practices,” says Rati Makkar, 56, who works as a dermatologist.
Rati is one of several examples of adults who have already graduated and still continue to have nightmares from their college or high school days. Most people do not even carry out the assessment, they wake up before, but wake up with a feeling that they would have a bad result in the test.
Why dreams according to psychologists
What experts say is that, after observing their patients complaining about having these nightmares, it is common for them to going through a stressful situation or some kind of evaluation at work, and this tends to make them anxious.
Dr. Ruksheda Syeda, a psychotherapist in Mumbai, analyzed that 75% of the population have recurrent bad dreams. She explains that it is a normal physiological process, these bad dreams are reflections of bad days, anxiety or negative thoughts that the person has.
Another reason is the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which causes the possessor to relive the nightmare dreams of a particular traumatic event.
How to avoid these nightmares?
The Doctor. Chibber recommends, before going to bed after a stressful day, trying to relax with some kind of physical activity or meditation, so that sleep is not affected by all the stress of the day. Looking for a psychologist to help you understand your dreams and your stress is the best advice, a particular treatment will be able to unravel where the problem is and how you can avoid taking it to the dreams.
