Brazil occupies several positions in the Impact Ranking of 2022, accounting for a total of 9 Brazilian universities, among the 1,406 evaluated, as the best in the world. Published annually by Times Higher Education (THE), the survey, which is a world reference in rankings, has a wide list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 UN Agenda and is therefore considered one of the most complete and reliable surveys of the world.

A UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina) ranked 401-600, scoring 65.0 to 71.9 overall points. The institution gained prominence mainly in the objectives of Gender Equality (SDG 5), ranked in the placement of 101-200 among 938 universities, with a score of 63.3; Decent employment and economic growth (SDG 8), scoring 65 points, the university was in the range of 101-200 out of 849 institutions; and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), ranked 23rd out of 785 institutions in the category, with a score of 98.4.

2. Research (in quantity and reputation);
3. Citations (Relevance in the academic environment in general);
4. Extension (national and international);
5. Income (generated by the university itself).
